Three Things to Remember While Traveling in Bali

Bali is the most visited tourist destination in Indonesia and is one of the more popular tourist destinations in all of Southeast Asia. The tourist industry is thriving in Bali, thus the resorts, activities, and needs of tourists are easily met. Bali is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Southeast Asia and is a must go to if you are in this region of the world. Here are three things to consider while traveling in Bali.

  • Bring toilet wipes and paper with you when you leave less touristy areas. Local restrooms do not have toilet paper supply. It is also advisable to bring hand sanitizer wherever you go because a lot of the smaller local restaurants do not have soap in their bathrooms. You don’t need to pack these items because they can easily be purchased in local supermarkets.
  • Bali Belly is when you have an upset stomach from drinking the water and eating the local cuisine. This is normal when you travel, especially due to the change in diet. Bali Belly can be avoided if you avoid tap water, brush your teeth with bottled water, and always wash your hands before you eat a meal.
  • Do not buy any drugs when you are in Bali. Often the men that are peddling drugs on the street are working in connection with the police, and they will arrest you once you agree to buy from them. They will hope you provide them with a significant bribe, or you could end up with a lengthy prison sentence in an Indonesian prison. Avoid drinking locally made alcohol, as it has been known to cause some deaths.
